Improvements at Mellerstain
We have been very busy with preparations for XXX, the inaugural exhibition of Borders Sculpture Park at Mellerstain. Steve Messam’s decision to use the old laundry to house ‘Towered’ provided the impetus to give this charming folly some much needed love and attention. The walls have been capped, and pointing redone, shoring up the structure whilst preserving it’s ancient character. We have also also built a new footbridge at the mouth of the lake.
Kyle and Hamish, heroes of the Hoebridge restaurant in Gattonside have taken charge of the cafe. They transformed our humble establishment into a hip diner with a mouthwatering lunch menu. In-house baking and local ingredients are the order of the day.
Meanwhile, Steve Messam has been back and forth between his workshop and Mellerstain, and will be finishing off the sewing on site in the build up to the public opening on July 14.30 June 17
